TITANABOA SKELETON
This sculpture is based on museum pieces of the Titanaboa a prehistoric snake that lived 58 - 60 million years ago in an area now known as La Guajire, Columbia. This snake reached sizes of upto 50 feet in length and weighed more than a ton. The sculpture shown in the pictures during construction is approximately 25 feet in length made frrom mild steel, a large amount being scrap electrical conduit. The sculpture was spray galvanised before being painted. Due to the size and weight, this model had to be made in four sections that bolt together to allow installation at height supported by steel wire ropes. This model has been made for both internal display above a sitting area under a vaulted roof and also as an outdoor ground based model.
