BAT SKELETON
This sculpture is loosely based on features from a number of bat skeletons rather
than a single species.
The body is made from multiple pieces of sheet mild steel of various thicknesses
hand bent, filed, sanded and hammered into shape then welded together. Welding
along the spine in particular has been left exposed to give a more accurate
representation of bone. It is light and designed to be hung by thin wire or fishing line.
Finished in brushed steel and partially polished then clear lacquered.
This design is easily reproduced and can be made in other metals such as Stainless
Steel, or wax / lacquered or painted. Can also be made in different sizes and other
poses such as hanging upside down with wings closed.
n.b. Copies although close can never be exact due to differences in the metal and weld finish.
