TITANUS GIGANTIUS BEETLE
This sculpture is loosely based on pictures of Titanus Gigantius - one of the worlds
largest beetles which is around 7 inches long in real life.
The body is made from multiple pieces of Stainless Steel built on a galvanised
sheet steel base and thick steel legs and antennae. All parts are hand bent, filed,
sanded and hammered into shape then welded together.
The body is free standing made from polished stainless steel with wax coating,
the legs were electroplated with Bronze before being clear lacquered and polished.
This design is easily reproduced and can be made in other finishes and sizes.
n.b. Copies although close can never be exact due to differences in the metal and weld finish.
