This sculpture is based on numerous nature photographs of the Cicada insect.The body is made from multiple pieces of sheet mild steel of various thicknesses hand bent and hammered into shape and welded together. Each leg is made fromthick metal cut and filed into shape, the wings are plasma cut from sheets of metal.Finished in brushed steel and partially polished then clear laquered. The legs have been treated with Antiquing fluid to a darker effect before being lacquered.This design is easily reproduced and can be made in other metals such as StainlessSteel, or wax / lacquered or painted.n.b. Copies although close can never be exact due to differences in the metal and weld finish.
