PRAYING MANTIS
This sculpture is loosely based on various photographs of Praying Mantis.
The body is made from multiple pieces of sheet mild steel of various thicknesses
hand bent, filed, sanded and hammered into shape then welded together onto a
thicker base layer for strength. Each leg is made from thick metal cut and filed
into shape with thick curved shields to the front arms.
This model is freestading and is finished in brushed steel and partially polished then
clear lacquered.
This design is easily reproduced and can be made in other metals such as Stainless
Steel, or wax / lacquered or painted. Can also be made in different sizes and poses.
n.b. Copies although close can never be exact due to differences in the metal and weld finish.
