This sculpture is based on pictures of museum skeletons of the Titanoboa - an extinct snake that lived 58 - 60 million years ago in what is now La Guajira, Columbia. This snake reached sizes of upto 50 feet in length weighing over a ton.This model is shown still in the workshop, it is approximately 25 feet in length and ismade from steel - a large amount of which is mixed new and scrap electrical conduit which has been spray galvanised and given an aged gold spray effect finish.The spine is made in 4 sections, hand rolled into the various curves then boltedtogether to allow transport and has been made to be supported by steel wire ropes, it will be installed at around 10 feet up looking down over a sitting area.
