PRAYING MANTIS
This sculpture is based on various pictures of the Praying Mantis (Mantadae) family rather than a single
specific Mantis.
The body is made from multiple pieces of sheet mild steel of various thicknesses hand bent,
filed, sanded and hammered into shape then welded together onto a thicker base layer for strength.
Each leg is made from thick metal cut and filed into shape with thick curved shields to the front arms.
We have made this model in both Mild Steel for indoor display and Stainless Steel for outdoors
This model is freestanding and can be easily scaled up and the pose changed - we can modify the
design to match a specific Mantis if required and change the finish to include rust effect or painted / powder coated
as shown below.
